When we were in Japan we visited Uji, the birthplace of matcha tea. The beautiful city of Uji has a rich history of matcha cultivation that dates back over 800 years. In Uji we visited a 6th generation family farm and enjoyed tea making and tasting. Much of the world's high-quality matcha that we enjoy has been crafted with expertise passed down from generation to generation by these experts.
Uji’s unique climate and soil conditions, as well as the traditional shade-grown methods used by its skilled farmers, make Uji matcha often considered the worlds best.
